A counterpart to our wildly popular Summer Fest, our winter Jazz festival includes a variety of established players and exciting Jazz upstarts—from straight-ahead Jazz to innovative young artists that are moving the art form forward, there’s something for everyone to discover.

Highlights include an artist-driven collaboration by Ambrose Akinmusire and Gerald Clayton, Vocalist Jamie Davis, New York-based saxophone prodigy Grace Kelly, The Blues All Stars with J.C. Smith, Chris Cain & Maxx Cabello Jr., and Rupa and the April Fishes, a global group that mixes elements of Gypsy Swing, Colombian Cumbia, French Chanson and Indian ragas. These concerts will be held at the intimate Theater on San Pedro Square, offering you an unique opportunity to experience these artists in a personal way.

Alright, jazz fans, here’s the part you’ve been waiting for: The official lineup for the 2011 Stanford Jazz Festival, June 24 – August 6. Tickets go on sale on May 2! All events on the Stanford campus at Dinkelspiel Auditorium or Campbell Recital Hall.

Winter Fest kicks off with singer Denise Donatelli, with her silky voice, rhythmically supple phrasing and emotionally incisive interpretation of familiar lyrics, Denise would stand out on any city’s jazz scene. Acoustic Africa, brings together three leading African guitarists, closes out the Winter Fest on March 20 at the Fairmont Hotel’s Club Regent. The festival which used to run over a number of weeks – has now been consolidated into two weekends and will be staged largely at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose.
